For some reason I get really excited about unexciting things. Today I sent a package to Africa for the first time, which is exciting because I’ve sent things to every other continent before (except Antarctica, but that would be exciting, too). I like doing international much more than UPS because it’s way less monotonous. We hadn’t sent any loans or returns to any African country since I started doing this in August (though I’ve scanned articles to send electronically to South Africa). Also I hate the new customs forms.

I also found out today that I can’t send anything “containing goods (non-documents) destined to Iran or Syria” or “containing goods destined to Cuba, North Korea, or Sudan, other than gift parcels or humanitarian donations as defined by 15 CFR ยง 740.12.” Not that we’re likely to have relationships with any libraries in those countries. But do books count as documents?
